The Spirit of Strumpshaw was commissioned by the RSPB and written collaboratively with children at Brundall Primary School to celebrate Strumpshaw Fen and the life it helps to sustain.
Two lines from the poem have been turned into a beautiful sculpture (metal work by Kate Munro), Toes Dangling. Why not walk out to see the sculpture and dangle your toes in the water? Strumpshaw Fen – The Spirit of Nature
Written collaboratively with the children of Brundall Primary School
Commissioned by RSPB Strumpshaw Fen, 2022
Morning mist, a sheet of dreams. Fertile waters, glistening streams.
Toes dangling, calming, free, feel water brushing at your feet.
Swans, in grass-waves, dazzling light. Dusk-reeds, rubies gleaming bright.
Barn owls, herons, soaring sky, this place that cares for nature’s life.
