You can find starfish across Norfolk and if you are lucky you may find some at Hunstanton Beach. This poem is also inspired by the joy of star gazing – the skies at Kelling Heath are some of the clearest in Europe and people come from all over to take part in gazing at the Dark Skies. Why not give it a go? (visitnorthnorfolk.com)
Sea Stars
Here where the night breathes into sand and stars
this light in the sky is yours, to slip and sink into
drink until dreaming, think until beaming
darkness and dreams like ink streaming in light
where night breathes into sight and expands
sea star rays in blue water-land
flowing meteors: true stars, brittle and blanket
family to sea lilies, cucumbers and urchins
sea stars that grow arms that see light as it glows
loss healing in brine where the sea stars shine
with no left or right, day drifting to night
in this place, where we gaze at stars
