This poem was inspired by the bats that roost at Cary’s Meadow – from Pipistrelles, to the Daubenton’s bat. Some of the bats that roost in Norfolk are incredibly rare, including the Barbastelle bat.

Note the poem is installed on the gate as you enter Cary’s Meadow from Thorpe Rd; walk through the woods until you get to the gate into the meadow where the poem is installed.
It’s known that bats such as pipistrelles and Daubentons bats roost close by to here.
Bats About Bats!
Inspired by the bats that roost across Norfolk and at Cary’s Meadow
Can you hear them, flying quick?
Here they come, swooping thick.
Furry, flying little friends,
zipping fingers, zoom-y bends.
Can you see them in the sky?
Sweeping near the stars, so high.
Midges. Munch. Moths. Crunch.
Yummy, zippy, beastie lunch!
